Kevin Simón Mancera

A very talented artist, Kevin Simón
cartoonish drawings are more societal statements than renderings
as evidenced by his ability to draw extremely well when he pleases. Nueve Ochenta represented
with many drawings on simple lined paper, napkin-esque and other. I particularly liked los perros!

DAVID RATHMAN

Minny's Rathman had some reknown for his "Zaire (Rumble in the Jungle- Ali-Foreman)" series, and his previous works for
Larissa Goldston Gallery are spectacular old west (ala Clint Eastwood westerns). His new series of tanks, ships,
helicoptors and other weapons of war provide ample proof of his painting excellence, the titles of the works make you think
about war:"In quiet rooms, young girls are writing poetry", "How the bells do toll", "There's always more to come",
"Love, you were a sickly child", "Look what sincerity will get you" - brilliant!

LAURINA PAPERINA

A very large piece by the phenomenal Laurina Paperina took over the entire wall of
Perugi ArteContemporanea, with her hilarious parodies of contemporary art, artists,
art dealers, popular icons, movie heroes, cartoons, etc, including Morikami, Nara, Barry McGee,
Keith Haring, Batman, Pulp Fiction, Clockwork Orange, Speedy Gonzalez and so many more

A few years ago Perugi presented a humongous on-site installation of Laurina's brain
flowing out of her head,
leading to a small hut where her incredibly cool videos were shown, downloadable at her website

ERIC BELTZ

The macabre and humorous drawings of Eric Beltz recast stories and characters from colonial American history in a grayscale psychedelia.
His intensely detailed graphite drawings imagine and confound histories, origin myths, psychedelic states, and life on the farm.
Using headless and skull-headed figures, Founding Fathers, and ethnobotanists Beltz re-envisions American foundational narratives.

TINKEBELL

Katinka Simonse aka TINKEBELL uses dressed-up taxidermied pets, disturbing sex photos
dressed with flowers and other combinations of models, death and other flora to provide a dichotomy
of issues and effects. There was a particular chopped up cat at the fair I couldn't bare to look at
or take a picture, yet the chopped up Lassie with foxy model makes it slightly more bareable.
